Conflicting reports were coming from different sources about the release of Saad Rizvi, chief of the banned Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), from Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail on Tuesday.

Official sources said later on Tuesday evening that the government had no plans to release Saad Rizvi from the Lahore prison.

On the contrary, officials of the Punjab Prisons Department confirmed earlier on Tuesday reports about the release of Saad Rizvi and said he had reached his party’s headquarters in Lahore’s Yateem Khana neighbourhood.

Earlier, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed issued an important statement about the success of talks between the government and the TLP.
