As reports of negotiations between the government and the banned Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) started pouring in on Sunday morning, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain took to Twitter with a poetic message.

In the couplet shared by the federal minister, the poet refuses to reconcile with coercion and shows readiness to put up a fight against any monster instead.

Earlier, speaking on a live news programme, Fawad said that every movement in this country had an ideology and it kept itself within the limits of that ideology. He said that it would be a disservice to Pakistan to compare a violent political ideology aimed at bringing the state to its knees to a political movement.

Later on Sunday, the government’s negotiating team announced reaching an agreement with the TLP but stopped short of giving any further details.

Mufti Muneebur Rehman, who is part of the negotiating team, said specifics of the deal would be shared with the public at an “appropriate time”.

Conflicting reports about TLP chief’s release from Lahore prison

The agreement between the government and the TLP comes after almost two weeks of clashes that left at least seven policemen dead and scores injured on both sides.

The proscribed religious group began the march towards Islamabad as part of its efforts to have its chief Saad Rizvi released from the jail and French ambassador expelled from Pakistan over publication of caricatures depicting the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) in a French satirical magazine.
