Pakistan’s religious affairs minister Mufti Abdul Shakoor dies in road accident

ISLAMABAD – Mufti Abdul Shakoor, Pakistan’s federal minister for religious affairs and interfaith harmony, was killed in a road accident in the federal capital on Saturday.

According to Islamabad Police, Shakoor was going to Secretariat Chowk from Marriott Hotel after Iftar when a minivan hit him. He was shifted to Islamabad’s Polyclinic where he succumbed to his wounds.

Islamabad Police said that Shakoor, a leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), was driving the car himself when the minivan carrying five people rammed into his vehicle on driver’s side. Police arrested the minivan driver and other people the vehicle was carrying.
