A 10 years old boy was injured seriously when a pet lion attacked him in the Gulberg neighbourhood of Karachi.

According to the police, a man named Hameed and his 10 years old son Abdul Nafay were present outside their house in Block 11 of Gulberg around midnight on May 14 when a pet lion attacked Nafay.

Nafay’s father and some other people present at the scene rescued the child from the lion’s claws after a hectic effort. However, Nafay received wounds on his belly and leg during the attack. The lion caused wounds to the child through his teeth and claws, but he is now said to be out of danger.

The police report says the lion in question is owned by Usama who deals in pet lions. Usama’s brother Saad had taken the lion to his friend Hameed’s house and Hameed had called his son Nafay outside to take some pictures with the wild pet.

Police have registered a case against the owner of the lion on the basis of a CCTV footage of the incident. Seven people can be seen at the scene in the CCTV footage.

Police say they have arrested Saad and security guard Roshan in this case. However, Usama has fled to an unknown location along with the wild lion. Police say Usama will be arrested soon.
