DUBAI — Pakistan has ruled fast bowler Mohammad Wasim Jr out of the ACC T20 Asia Cup 2022 due to a side strain.

The development has come just two days before the crucial Pakistan-India match, one of the most sensational matches of the Asia Cup cricket tournament to be played on Sunday (August 28).

According to a press release issued by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Friday, Wasim picked up the injury while bowling in Pakistan’s practice session on Wednesday.

Pakistan cricket team’s medical staff assessed Wasim’s injury and later an MRI scan in Dubai confirmed the diagnosis.

According to the PCB, the findings of the medical team were discussed with the PCB Medical Advisory Committee and an independent review by a specialist physiotherapist was also sought.

The medical team will closely monitor Wasim’s rehabilitation and reassess his return to competitive cricket before the England tour to Pakistan.
