PTI gets two-thirds majority in GB Assembly after winning another seat


Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf candidate Syed Sohail Abbas Shah won the GBA-3 constituency on Sunday after getting 6873 votes.

Independent candidate Dr Muhammad Iqbal got 4678 votes. The election in the constituency was earlier postponed after the demise of PTI candidate Jaffar Shah. After winning this seat, PTI secured two-thirds majority in the Gilgit Baltistan Assembly with 17 seats.

The polling started at 8am and concluded at 5pm. Strict security measures were adopted throughout the day. GBA-3 has total 34,103 votes. Last Sunday, elections were held on 23 seats of the GB Assembly. PTI was on the top with 10 seats and seven independent candidates managed to win the elections. Later, six of them joined the ruling party. PPP only secured three seats, PML-N two and MWM got one seat.
