Lahore Qalandars celebrate dismissal of a Quetta Gladiators batsman.

The Lahore Qalandars staged another convincing victory against Quetta Gladiators in the fifth match of the sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) on Monday.

Qalandars won the toss and chose to field first at a Karachi stadium. Quetta Gladiators opened the match with the bat and put up a decent total of 179 for a loss of six wickets. As Chris Gayle went on the rampage and fired a volley of boundaries, it appeared for a moment that it would be difficult to stop Quetta Gladiators. However, this proved a short-lived feeling and no player could stand against the bowlers after Gayle’s removal. Gayle scored 68 for 40 balls.

Qalandars started off well as Fakhar Zaman and Sohail Akhtar built a good opening partnership of 65 runs. After Sohail Akhtar’s removal, Muhammad Hafeez came in and stood by Fakhar until the last ball of the match. Fakhar Zaman was the highest scorer from the Lahore Qalandars side with 83 runs for 52 balls. Hafeez came well after Fakhar Zaman and scored 73 for 33 balls to end the match 10 balls earlier. Fakhar Zaman was declared Player of the Match.
