Imran Khan issues first statement after ouster from power

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday issued his first statement after his removal from the office of the prime minister of Pakistan through a no-confidence motion.

“Pakistan became an independent state in 1947; but the freedom struggle begins again today against a foreign conspiracy of regime change. It is always the people of the country who defend their sovereignty & democracy.”

More than 10 opposition political parties had filed a no-confidence motion against Khan on March 8 this year. After a lot of political upheavals over the last one month, voting on the no-confidence motion was held on Saturday night and Khan was removed.

According to results of the vote on the no-confidence motion, 174 members of the opposition parties voted against Khan to oust him from power.
